Henry AXTELL, son of Thomas AXTELL and Mary UNKNOWN [Family], was born about 10/15/1641 in Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire, England. Henry died on 04/19/1676 in Marlborough, Middlesex, Massachusetts aged 34. == Biography ==Henry Axtel was christened 15 OCT 1641 Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire, England.<ref name="Axtell" >Axtell, Carson A. In 1660, land lying west of Sudbury was incorporated as the town of Marlborough. Henry Axtell, then only nineteen, was one of the proprietors. He received fifteen acres of land in the central part of the town as his house lot. He probably had a portion of meadow and other out-lying land also.<ref name="Axtell" />. He married June 14, 1665,<ref name="MVR" /> Hannah Merriam, the daughter of George and Susan Merriam. Hannah's parents came from Kent, England aboard the "Castle." She was born in Concord, Massachusetts, July 14, 1645.<ref name="Axtell" /> She married second William Taylor July 16, 1677.<ref name="MVR" />. In the spring of 1676, the Wampanoag and Narragansett Indians , led by "King Phillip" made war on the white settlers. Henry Axtell was killed about March 1676 by Indians.<ref name="Axtell" /> The History of Marlborough states that he was slain between Sudbury and Marlboro April 20, 1676.<ref name="HoM">Hudson, Charles and Joseph Allen. Slain by the Indians between Sudbury and Marlborough upon ye Road.<ref name="MVR" />The Middlesex County Registers says he died March ___, 1675.<ref name="MVR" />.
